Dred Feminist Rant September 2016

Dred Feminist Rant -- September 2016: Irony keeps me sane. Irony is when an African American Democratic president has to save capitalism from Republican corruption as his first mandate in office, when capitalism invented white supremacy and the mythical white race only to make money. Irony is when Hillary Clinton tried to save the Republican Party from Donald Trump when that same party spent the last 30 years vilifying her mercilessly. Irony is when deplorable white supremacists get called out for supporting a racist candidate who launched his political career with birtherism, who now claims to want to support childcare as a means to encourage women to have more children. As Lily Tomlin said, no matter how cynical I become, I can't keep up.

Dred Feminist Rant #8.5 -- Black Men Against Rape?

Brothers disclosing when they've been sexually assaulted is an unintended, but welcome, consequence of the #METOO campaign. In the 1970s, at the D.C. Rape Crisis Center, we counseled many African American men and boys who had been sexually assaulted by other men and boys. Prisoners Against Rape was started because the men who raped women outside of prisons, raped men inside. That was when i first heard Black men began speaking out against their own sexual injustices, but only rarely is the conversation broadened so that more brothers participate. I believe homophobia and transphobia prohibits more men and boys from speaking out. Where's the Black Men Against Rape movement?

Things like white supremacy, the destruction of democracy, Black Lives Matter, the #MeToo hashtag, the attacks on immigrants, the transfer of wealth to the 1%, the new Poor People’s Campaign. You know, those things I expect are important to human rights activists in the U.
